iDIERS

App-based medical training therapy for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.

iDIERS was developed by an interdisciplinary team of experts to offer patients with postural / musculoskeletal complaints the opportunity to perform independent medical-based training therapy.
The beginning of every successful therapy is an accurate diagnosis. Together with the anamnesis by the physician, this forms the cornerstone of a patient-individual treatment plan. The iDIERS training app provides patients with an individual training plan in which the results of a spinal measurement and the diagnosis by the treating physician are optimally coordinated. With the iDIERS training app, the muscles can be strengthened step by step and in a targeted manner, and mobility can be improved. This is the cornerstone for a healthy posture and for pain-free movements in everyday life.

1. Posture- / Motion Analysis

iDIERS is an individualized movement therapy training program based on biomechanical parameterizations and anamnestic information. These data are generated by the physician by means of a spinal & postural analysis.

In some cases it is useful to perform a 4Dmotion®Lab motion analysis to analyze the spine not only in terms of statics (while standing) but also in terms of dynamics (while walking), taking into account the rolling behavior of the feet and the position of the leg axes.

2. Medically based Training Plan

Based on individual biomechanical measurement data, an AI (Artificial Intelligence) creates a training plan suitable for the patient. This is done by accessing a pool of over 2000 different training exercises that correspond to the latest training science findings. This automatically generated training plan is reviewed by the physician and adjusted if necessary.

The “iDIERS” software was developed in collaboration with the University Hospitals of Aachen and Mainz in the BMBF-funded model project “autoPräz”, taking into account the aspects of usability, patient acceptance and therapist acceptance.

3. Training Therapy accompanied by an app

The patient receives a QR code with which he can download his personal training plan to his smartphone. All exercises can be completed without any aids, so that training can be done anytime and anywhere. Detailed video instructions explain how to perform the exercises correctly in order to achieve an optimal training effect and prevent incorrect strain.

4. Documentation of the Training Process

After each workout, the patient has the opportunity to give his feedback via the app: How much effort he had to put into the exercise, if there were any difficulties during the exercise and how he felt in general.
At the end of a completed training plan, the iDIERS app generates a QR code that can be used to share the training statistics with the doctor in order to continuously optimize the training and thus achieve the greatest possible therapeutic success.
